Kerlix Gauze

The Kerlix wound care line from Medtronic consists of a range of gauze sponges and gauze rolls. Kerlix gauze rolls and sponges are used for a variety of wound care applications from wound preparation, cleansing, packing, and debriding wounds. Kerlix gauze is hypoallergenic and can be used as a primary or secondary wound care dressing. Kerlix gauze sponges and rolls are made in a wide range of sizes, plies, sterile, and non-sterile.

Kerlix products are available in a range of plies to meet a variety of medical applications. Kerlix rolls are good for bandaging heads, limbs, and patient areas that are hard to cover with standard gauze pads. Kerlix bandage rolls have finished edges to reduce loose ends and lint.

Kerlix gauze sponges and rolls provide excellent absorbency and fast wicking. The fast-wicking functionality reduces the chance of contamination and saturation. Kerlix is used for many wound care applications including burns, orthopedic wounds, and chronic wounds. Several Kerlix are x-ray detectable for increased safety.

Kerlix gauze sponges and bandage rolls are made with the highest chemical purity. Kerlix are tested for blood-soluble cytotoxic chemical residue and they are tested for PH to minimize the risk of wound irritation and decomposition during use. Kerlix are also tested for dextran, starch, fatty matter, dyes and rayon to minimize risk of wound trauma.

Several Kerlix products are also offered in an antimicrobial version. Kerlix Antimicrobial Dressings (AMD) contain 0.2% Polyhexamethylene Biguanide (PHMB), a bacteria-killing polymer that virtually eliminates bacterial penetration through and growth within the dressings. The AMD wound dressings are effective against both gram + and gram - bacteria plus yeast and fungi. Kerlix AMD wound dressings are also effective against common problematic bacteria such as methicillin resistant Staphlococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin resistant Enterococcus (VRE).

• Kerlix Laparotomy Sponges: Made from pre-washed 100% cotton and are designed for maximum absorbency. They have dual-colored radiopaque handles that remain visible even when saturated with blood. Sterile and disposable. They are available in multiple sizes and banded in 5's.
• Kerlix AMD Super Sponges: Antimicrobial wound dressings are impregnated with PHMB (Polyhexamethylene Biguanide), a powerful yet safe antiseptic that has a broad range effectiveness against gram positive and gram negative microorganisms including some multi-drug resistant strains such as MRSA.
